Huawei overtakes Samsung to #1 smartphone player in the world, thanks to china as overseas sales drop.

Shoud you keep this in mind while purchasing new smartphone? would this matter the stability and future of brand?

So yes, Huawei overtakes Samsung to be №.1 Smartphone player in the world however it happened when Samsung’s global sales of second quarter of 2020 hit badly owing to the impact of covid-19.

In short its is because of china.

  • The Chinese vendor shipped 55.8 million devices, down 5% year on year, according to research firm Canalys.
  • But analyst cast doubt over whether this was sustainable given the fact that over 70% of Huawei’s sales in the second quarter came from China while its overseas markets took a hit.
  • The majority of sales came from China as its international business suffers due to U.S. sanctions.

Reported by CNBC .

Its clear that the sales figures are not permanent and will come down or must have come down already- will get to know this when all big giants reports there Q3 sales results.

Huawei has already suffered in the European market, where its sales dropped 16% in the April-June period, while Samsung and Xiaomi enjoyed 20% and 48% year-on-year growth, respectively, according to research company Canalays. “Samsung has been quick to capitalize on Huawei’s U.S. Entity List problems, working behind the scenes to position itself as a stable alternative in conversations with important retailers and operators,” a Canalays analyst said in a research note. Huawei’s smartphone shipments could even plunge to only 50 million units next year, from 195 million units this year and 240 million units for 2019, said Jeff Pu, an analyst with GF Securities, if the U.S. did not ease the restriction.

Now something exciting, On top of everything going around with the tech giant they have decided to launch its own OS as google is no longer associated with them.

HarmonyOS, Linux based operating system is the name of Huawei new operating system. They are pretty confident that it will be a new user experience in world largely driven by Android and iOS However, to make HarmonyOS a viable Android alternative, let alone a replacement, an app ecosystem needs to exist, which we believe Huawei would have thought of before jumping on this ambitious project. Unfortunately, Android apps are not compatible on HarmonyOS by default, but it has been designed such that by using the Huawei ARK open source compiler, developers will be able to transfer those apps to the operating system.

In August 2019, Huawei announced the launch of its very own operating system, the HarmonyOS. The HarmonyOS is Huawei’s answer to every other operating system that exists.

Well its not the new thing, back in 2007 world’s leading smartphone maker Samsung has decided to make its own OS and now we are in 2020 and we hardly know about TizenOS.

In 2007, the creation of the Linux Mobile Foundation placed the roots for the future of Samsung’s own operating system. But it was not until 2010, when the Korean company started developing its Samsung Linux Platform.

At that same time, Intel was co-leading with Nokia the MeeGo project, another open source mobile OS based on Linux. In 2011, Intel abandoned the operating system program to unite forces with Samsung on developing Tizen.

In parallel to Tizen, the Korean company was developing another software project under the name of Bada with some open source components. This OS was discontinued in 2013, in favour of the main operating system that Samsung was developing at that moment — Tizen

More than 70% of the market is already taken by Android and rest is clear and self explanatory.

So all these leads to only one thing that it is not worth to go for Huawei at the moment or see if Google ties up again and we can use android on Huawei smartphones.

The prices are whooping high as compared with the popularity of others brands like Samsung, Apple etc. Also the resale value of the phone is also not that good as compared to its peers and moreover we also have to think of after sales service though its personal choice of each individual whether to go for or not.
